Graduation Requirements
- 4.0 credits of approved English (students must take 1 credit of English every year)
- 3.0 credits of approved Math
- 3.0 credits of approved Science
- 3.0 credits of approved Social Studies (2.5 credits with Introduction to Business)
- 4.0 credits of approved Wellness: 3.5 credits of Physical Education, 0.5 credit of Health (students must take 1 credit of Wellness every year)
- .5 credit of Safety Education or successful completion of an outside driving school class
- 7.5 credits of electives
To successfully graduate from Mundelein High School, students must complete 25 academic credits (as described above), the Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE), and the Illinois and United States Constitution Exams. The PSAE is administered during a student’s junior year. The Illinois and United States Constitution Exams are administered in the American Government and Politics course, which is a required course for all students.
Approved Courses For Graduation And Classification Requirements
Sophomore Classification: Successful completion of 7 credit hours, including:
- English 1 Essentials, English 1, or Honors English
- Algebra 1 Essentials, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, or GTA
- Conceptual Physics, Biology, or Honors Biology
- World Studies Essentials, World Studies, or AP World History
Junior Classification: Successful completion of 14 credit hours, including:
- English 2 Essentials, English 2, or Honors English 2
- Algebra 2 Essentials, Algebra 2, GTA or higher
- Chemistry, Biology, or Honors Chemistry
- US History or AP US History
Senior Classification: Successful completion of 20 credit hours, including:
- English 3, Honors English 3, or AP English Language
- Geometry, GTA, or higher
- Physics, Chemistry, or Honors Physics
- American Government, and Consumer Economics or Introduction to Business
Individual students with special circumstances may have their classification reviewed by administration.
