Show Choir Combo

The Mundelein High School Show Choir Combo has accompanied our award-winning show choirs since their inception in the 1990s. The group consists of 15-25 student musicians, freshman through senior, who prepare and perform the instrumental accompaniment to the choirs' competition shows throughout the year. As part of their performance, the Combo travels with the group to regional and interstate competitions, festivals, and concerts. Over the years, this group has received numerous awards for their oustanding contributions to competition performances.

Students must audition to perform as part of this ensemble in May of the previous school year. Students begin working on the performance literature in a mini-camp prior to the start of the school year. Once the year begins, this group rehearses for 2-3 hours each week, with additional rehearsals as competition season begins in January. Literature for this group ranges from pop, rock, and disco music to arrangements straight from today's Broadway shows. Students involved in this group receive a unique instrumental experience akin to the demands of a professional pit orchestra player.
