MUSTANGS QUALIFY FOR SECTIONALS

Congratulations to Bryce Richards and Mickey Cardenas, who qualified to run in the Schaumburg IHSA Sectional, to be held at Busse Woods on Saturday, November 2nd.  Good Luck, Mustangs!  Bus leaves at 7:45 Saturday.

Reminder-  All runners who are done for the season need to turn in their uniforms and sweats ASAP.




 
The Mustangs participated in a fundraiser to aid the victims of the Boston bombings.  The Mustangs were able to raise $500  by purchasing and wearing special t-shirts honoring the victims, with the proceeds going to the Boston victims' fund.

2013  RESULTS


10/26/13  IHSA Regional-  The Mustangs competed in the Libertyville Regional on Saturday, October 26th, at Adler Park.  The Mustangs ran their best race of the year, but came up 1 point short of qualifying as a team for the Sectional Meet this coming Saturday.  Bryce Richards and Mickey Cardenas both qualified as individuals, taking 11th and 20th, respectively.  They were followed by Liam Mellon in 31st, Chris Palacios in 40th, Uly Hagerdorn in 50th, Joe Clow in 59th, and Ben Krauss in 63rd.

10/16/13  NSC Conference-  The Mustangs took 9th and showed improvement at the Conference Meet this past weekend.  They were led by Bryce Richards and Mickey Cardenas.  Both runners earned All-Conference status, taking 14th and 24th, respectively.  Chris Palacios took 51st, Joseph Clow 55th, and Uly Hagerdorn 59th to complete the scoring.  Greg Proper took 77th and Liam Mellon took 81st to round out the squad.

In the JV race, Christian Kaider had his best race of the year, taking 58th.  Raphael Rouvinov took 110th, and Patrick Grady took 127 out of nearly 200 runners.

The F/S squad had the race of the day, taking 6th, only 22 points out of 3rd.  They were led by Mitchell Alberts in14th place.  Also medaling were Ben Krauss in 28th and Sean Naughton in 29th place.  Steven Van Belleghem took 46th and Chris Shannon took 51st, to complete the scoring.  Chase Fragoso contributed a 91st place finish, and Carson Corirossi took 121st with a PR to finish his season.  Great job, Mustangs!

Congrats also go out to Tommy Shannon, who won the NSC Sportsmanship Award.  Very well-deserved!

10/7/13 Warren/Z-B-  The Mustangs lost to both Warren and Z-B at Warren, but still had some great performances.  Mickey Cardenas led the way with his best race of the year to date, despite running over 2 miles with only one shoe!  Liam Mellon was next in, followed by Chris Palacios, Joseph Clow, and Greg Proper.  Joe and Greg also enjoyed their best races of the year.  Uly Hagerdorn and Ben Krauss rounded out the top 7.  Next up-  The NSC Championship, held at Camp Henry Horner on Saturday, October 19th.   

10/5/13  Peoria Invitational -  The Mustangs took 29th out of 53 teams at this weekend's Peoria Invitational.  They were led by Liam Mellon, who took 118th out of 363 runners.  Chris Palacios was next in, taking 137th.  Joe Clow had his best race to date, breaking 17 minutes for the first time, and taking 177th.  Uly Hagerdorn took 193rd, and Mickey Cardenas 205th, to complete the scoring.  Both Ben Krauss and Gregory Proper pitched in with PRs. 


On Monday, September 30th, the Mustangs played host to Libertyville and Stevenson on Senior Night

Although we lost to both LHS and SHS, all the guys pushed themselves hard. Mickey Cardenas led the way, and he now ranks 3rd on the DL List, behind Bryce Richards and Liam Mellon. He was followed by Liam Mellon, Chris Palacios, Uly Hagerdorn, Greg Proper (really great race for Greg), Joe Clow, Ben Krauss, and Tommy Shannon. A lot of the guys ran near the times they did Saturday at Palatine, and some, like Greg, actually ran faster! Nice job, Mustangs! Next stop, Peoria!

On Saturday
, September 28th, the Mustangs competed in the Palatine Invitational.

The Frosh boys took 10th in a great field, led by Ben Krauss in 30th.  Mitch Cohen was 39th, Sean Naughton in 51st continues to get closer to the front, Steven Bellegham was 80th, and Chris Shannon had his best race yet, taking 87th. From 1 to 5, their spread was 1:10.

The Sophs were short-handed, but the first 3 runners were solid. Uly Hagerdorn and Joe Clow took 36th and 46th, and Mitchell Alberts pitched in with a 105th place finish.  Carson Corirossi also had a PR.

The Varsity was short-handed, but were led by Chris Palacios, who still managed to PR on a very hot day.

On Saturday, September 21st, the Mustangs competed in the Warren Invitational.

The F/S boys took 5th out of 20 teams, and were led by Uly Hagerdorn and Joe Clow, in 10th and 11th. Ben Krauss was 27th, Mitch Cohen 49th, and Mitch Alberts 51st.

The Boy's Varsity team took 13th out of 19. Mickey Cardenas led the team in 33rd. Liam Mellon took 39th, Chris Palacios took 51st, Greg Proper took 76th, and Christian Kaider was 113th.

On Saturday, September 14th, the Mustangs competed in the Wauconda Invitational.

Today belonged to the youngsters, especially the freshman boys.  The frosh boys took 4th, 20 points away from a team plaque.  Ben Krauss and Mitch Cohen went 7/8.  Sean Naughton had a great race, taking 29th.  Steven Van Belleghem was 35th, and Chris Shannon took 59th.  All the frosh had PRs.

The sophs took 12th, led by Uly Hagerdorn in 9th, with a PR.  Joe Clow also PRd, taking 21st.  Mitch Alberts contributed a 51st place finish and a PR.

The varsity took a surprising 8th out of 23 teams, led by Bryce Richards in 31st.  Mickey Cardenas took 46th, Liam Mellon took 59th, Chris Palacios was 62nd, and Greg Proper took 101st.  Cardenas and Proper both had PRs.
On Saturday, September 21st, the Mustangs competed in the Warren Invitational.

The F/S boys took 5th out of 20 teams, and were led by Uly Hagerdorn and Joe Clow, who took 10th and 11th individually.  Ben Krauss was 27th, Mitch Cohen 49th, and Mitch Alberts 51st to complete the scoring.

The Boy's varsity team took 13th out of 19. Micxkey Cardenas led the team in 33rd place. Liam Mellon took 39th, Chris Palacios took 51st, Greg Proper took 76th, and Christian Kaider was 113th.
