Congratulations to the Mundelein Mustangs, who took 5th at the Libertyville Regional, qualifying as a team for the Schaumburg IHSA Sectional Meet at Busse Woods.  The meet will be this coming Saturday, November 2nd.  Come on out and support your Mustangs!  Bus leaves at 7:45.

There will be a short meeting after school for all Cross Country and Track team members this Friday, November 1st, to discuss the upcoming Turkey Trot fund raiser, and Winter Running.  It will be held in Miss DeVitto's room.

Reminder-  All runners who are done for the year need to turn in their uniforms and sweats ASAP after school.

The Mustangs participated in a fundraiser to aid the victims of the Boston bombings.  The Mustangs were able to raise $500  by purchasing and wearing special t-shirts honoring the victims, with the proceeds going to the Boston victims' fund.

2013  RESULTS

10/26/13  IHSA Regional-  The Mustangs took 5th at the Libertyville Regional, qualifying as a team for the IHSA Sectional at Schaumburg on November 2nd.  They were led again by Emily Schlebecker in 15th place.  Kelsey Loar was next in in 18th place.  Abby Grein ran a spectacular race, taking 26th, followed by Jackie Shannon in 32nd, Marissa Richards in 45th, Sarah Ouimet in 48th, and Clair Bullington in 57th.  Congratulations, Mustangs, and Good Luck!

Girl's Sectional Qualifying Team

10/19/13  NSC Conference Meet-  The varsity team took 9th in the conference, running at Camp Henry Horner.  They were led by Emily Schlebecker, who earned All-Conference status by taking 27th.  She was followed closely by Kelsey Loar in 33rd.  Abby Grein stepped up as our 3rd runner, taking 60th.  Marissa Richards and Sarah Ouimet took 66th and 73rd respectively, and Victoria Willman ran her first varsity race of the year, taking 74th, and setting a PR in the process!

The JV squad had only 2 runners, Amy Proper and Clarissa Montiel.  Amy was returning after a long absence, and Clarissa ran her first race in a couple of years.  Welcome back to both of them!

The F/S race brought in one more medalist, as Jodi Bustamonte took 15th, in a fine performance. Taylor Parola contributed a 51st place finish and a PR as well!  Way to go, Mustangs!

Congratulations also go out to Amy Proper, who won the NSC Sportsmanship Award.  Very well-deserved!

10/7/13  Warren/Z-B-  The Mustangs beat Z-B but lost to Warren at Warren this past Monday.  The Mustangs were led by strong performances by their top three runners- Kelsey Loar, Emily Schlebecker, and Jackie Shannon.  They were followed in by Marissa Richards, Crystal Arroyo, Sarah Ouimet, and Claire Bullington.  Next up-  the NSC Championship, October 19th at Camp Henry Horner.

10/5/13  Peoria Invitational -  This weekend the Mustangs took 19th out of 49 teams at the Peoria Invitational, led by Emily Schlebecker, who was 48th out of 330 runners.  Kelsey Loar was next in, taking 64th, followed by Jackie Shannon in 75th.  Crystal Arroyo took 138th, Ashley Parola was 239th, and Sarah Ouimet took 248th for the Mustangs.

On Monday, September 30th, the Mustangs played host to Libertyville and Stevenson on Senior Night.

Senior Emily Schlebecker showed an intensity that was impressive, as she worked her way closer to the front the entire race. If the race was 30 meters longer, she would have caught the 2nd Libertyville girl. As it is, she now ranks 3rd behind Ellie Palacios and Marisa Perreault for top times at the Diamond Lake course! We may have lost to Libertyville, but we beat Stevenson handily thanks to Emily, Kelsey Loar, another great race by Jackie Shannon (now 8th on the DL List), Sarah Ouimet, Claire Bullington, Marissa Richards, Ashley Parola, and Crystal Arroyo.

On Saturday, September 28th, the Mustangs competed at the Palatine Invitational.
The F/S girls took 13th, led by Crystal Arroyo in 51st. She was followed by Marissa Richards in 58th, Abby Grein in 73rd (she continues to rapidly improve), Sarah Ouimet in 97th, and Claire Bullington, who hung on for 116th.

The Varsity squad, who were short-handed, were led by Emily Schlebecker in 85th place.  She was followed by Kelsey Loar in 98th, Jackie Shannon in 117th, and Ashley Parola in 163rd.
