2014  RESULTS & HIGHLIGHTS

2014 Season Outlook
After a Regional Championship in 2013, the 2014 season will be pose some challenges to the Girls Golf Team.We graduated the MVP, Courteney Fabbri, and three 4-year players; Cristina Loverde, Lorrielle Martin and Becky Koeller. The Mustangs did gain a very talented freshman, Jennifer Dimitriou, but our underclassmen turnout was disappointing so there is no junior varsity team for the first time in 8 years.

The attendance in our summer programs, pro-camp and league, were very good and the team has no intention of throwing in the towel. We will continue to work hard and our goal is to finish in the top half of the North Suburban Conference.

The Girls Golf Team ended their 2014 season with a 6-3 NSC record and an overall record of 7 wins and 5 losses.
They were victorious against Highland Park, Vernon Hills, Warren, Lake Zurich, Grant, Antioch and Lakes. The Mustangs had 2 Sectional Qualifiers, Holly Petlak and Jennifer Dimitriou who is the first freshman to compete on this level and shot a 96. Congratulations on another winning season!

IHSA Girls Regional

MHS placed fifth in the IHSA Girls regional. Senior Holly Petlak tied for tenth with a 93. Freshman Jennifer Dimitriou also qualified with a 99. Both girls are excited about continuing on in the series.

The Girls Golf Team ended their North Suburban Conference season with a 6 win - 3 loss record which put them in a tie for 4th place with Vernon Hills heading into the NSC Tournment. Their only losses were to Stevenson, Lake Forest and undefeated Libertyville.

The team struggled a bit in the tournament without their captain, Holly Petlak, who was home with the flu, scoring 394 and finishing in 5th place. Mustangs did have 2 medal winners, Megan Wiese with a 97 and Isabella Loverde shot 96.

9/17 vs. Warren

The girls golf team had a very successful week! They defeated Warren at home on 9/17 with a season best 184. Leading the team were Grace Gotlund and Holly Petlak who both shot personal best scores of 45. Adding to the great team score was Jennifer Dimitriou's 46 and Darin Chaichitatorn's best score of 48. THE MUSTANGS ARE ROLLING!

Mundelein hosted a 9 team invitational on Saturday 9/20 and took second place behind Buffalo Grove. The Lady Mustangs were anything but disappointed with their second place finish because they not only had a season best team score of 354, but all 6 players shot personal best scores and they took 5 medals!!! What a great performance and team effort!

6th place (88)- Jennifer Dinmitriou (scorecard tie-breaker) 7th place (88)- Grace Gotlund 8th place (89)- Isabella Loverde (scorecard tie-breaker) 9th place (89)- Megan Wiese 10th place (90)- Holly Petlak *personal best (95)- Keara Hurley

The Cougar Classic

Big weekend for the girls golf team with a 3rd place finish at The Cougar Classic with a score of 383. Leading the Lady Mustangs was Megan Wiese who took home a 4th place medal shooting an 88 and Jennifer Dimitriou shot a 95 to win a 12th place medal. Both Isabella Loverde and Grace Gotlund shot 100 which were personal best scores. Great team effort!

9/4 vs. Highland Park

BIG WIN FOR THE LADY MUSTANGS!!!

The Lady Mustangs defeat Highland Park decisively with a season best score of 189 to 202. The team really came together this week to meet their goal of scoring 190 or below. The best part of this victory is that they know they can do even better! Megan Wiese and Jennifer Dimitriou both shot 45, followed by a 48 from Shannon Streeter and 51 from Grace Gotlund. Keep it going Mustangs!

9/3 vs. Lakes

Ok, here we go! The MHS Girls Golf Team defeats Lakes 191 to 262! All of the Mustangs improved their scores and are closing in on their overall scoring goal. Our leading scorers were; Megan Wiese with a 43, Jennifer Dimitriou with 47, Holly Petlak with 48 and Shannon Streeter with a 53.

9/2 vs. Lake Forest

Starting the month of September, the Mustangs set a team goal to shoot 190 or below by the end of the week. In the match against Lake Forest, the team scored under 200 for the first time this season in a losing effort 180 to 199. Megan Wiese led the Mustangs with a 43. The team is gaining momentum and confidence with every match!

8/28 vs. Deerfield

Unfortunately, the Lady Mustangs are still without a win, losing to Deerfield 180 to 200. The good news is that they continue to improve and freshman, Jennifer Dimitriou, shot a personal best of 41. Congratulations to Jennifer on her impressive score which is the lowest score ever posted by a freshman!

8/27 vs. Stevenson

For our first conference match we traveled to Crane’s Landing to play Stevenson where we lost 172 to 209. Even with the lost, the team is encouraged by the improvement of their score and are confident that they will improve significantly. The Mustangs were led by senior, Holly Petlak, who shot a 47.

8/20 vs Fremd

The girls golf team opened the 2014 season at home against powerhouse, Fremd, and were handed their first loss; 175 to 213. The lowest score for the Mustangs was a 48 from Megan Wiese.
