2012  RESULTS

The 2012 season is over and what an amazing season it was!
The Lady Mustangs scored 370 and finished in 9th place(12 teams) at the IHSA Sectional Tournament on Monday, Oct. 8. It may not have been the performance they had anticipated, but it was their debut at a sectional competition and that is quite an accomplishment! With 4 of the 6 competitors returning next year it was a valuable experience, and they look forward to returning in 2013.

In retrospect, the team won 3 invites, took home 18 medals, finished 2nd at the North Suburban Conference Tournament and 3rd overall, finished 2nd at the IHSA Regional Tournament which qualified the team to the Sectionals for the first time in school history! WOW!!!




For the first time in MHS Girls Golf history, the team has qualified to the IHSA Sectional Tournament!
The Mustangs finished in 2nd Place to Lake Forest with a team score of 364 at Bittersweet in poor rainy conditions. Our top individual scores were an 87 from Courteney Fabbri, a 90 from Cristina Loverde, a 93 from Hannah Thompson and a 94 from Lorrielle Martin. Congratulations and good luck on Monday at Bonnie Brook!




The Varsity Team Wins Another Invite!!!

The Lady Mustangs wins the Warren Blue Devil Invite at the dreaded, Bittersweet, beating the defending champion, Crystal Lake Central by one stroke, 352-353. Courteney Fabbri was the tournament Champion shooting an 82 and Holly Gotlund placed 6th with an 87. Our other team scores were, Hannah Thompson with 91, Cristina Loverde with 92, Lorrielle Martin with 92, Holly Petlak shot 104 and Shannon Streeter had 113. The team has their site set on one more victory, the IHSA Regional Tournament on Wednesday at Bittersweet. The girls are confident and ready to face the challenge!




 


The Girls Golf Team finishes in 2nd place at the North Suburban Conference Tournament!
They lost by 2 strokes to Lake Forest 338-340. It is still the best finish and it was a total team effort. Courteney Fabbri shot 83, Lorrielle Martin shot a personal best score of 83, Cristina Loverde also added a personal best of 86 and Hannah Thompson shot 88. Congrats and go get them at Regionals!



 
 



 Girls Golf Wins The 2012 Mustang Invite with a 367 team score!!!
Saturday was a cold and very windy day, but the Mustangs have plenty to smile about because they won the 6-team invite with a total team effort. They showed that they have depth and all 6 MHS golfers medaled. Holly Gotlund won 3rd place with an 87, Cristina Loverde won 4th with a 90, Hannah Thompson took home the 5th place medal with a 93, Courteney Fabbri won the 6th place medal with a 94, Lorrielle Martin won 7th place with a 95 and Holly Petlak took 10th place with a 101. Congratulations TEAM!




The Lady Mustangs stomp rival, Libertyville
, at Willow Glen, tying the school 9-hole record with a 166 to 184! What makes this win even more impressive is that they golfed with 35 mile per hour winds. The top scorers for Mundelein were from Captain, Hannah Thompson who shot a 40, Courteney Fabbri also shot a 40, Cristina Loverde and Holly Gotlund both shot 43. Way to go Mustangs!!!




The Varsity Girls Golf Team defeated Carmel
on Tuesday 174 to 183 raising their overall record to 9 wins and 4 losses. Leading the Mustangs was senior captain, Holly Gotlund who shot a 41. Courteney Fabbri added a 42, Cristina Loverde shot a 43 and an injured, Hannah Thompson shot a 48. The Junior Varsity suffered a loss to the Corsairs, 227 to 215. Our leading scorer were Becky Koeller, Shannon Streeter, Josie David and Nicole Forsythe.



WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!

The Varsity Team won the 8-team Vernon Hills Invite on Saturday, Sept. 8 with a team score of 340.
It was the first time the girls have won an 18-hole tourney and there were several personal records set. Courteney Fabbri tied for 1st place with Courtney Williams of Waubonsie Valley with a personal best score and set a NEW SCHOOL RECORD of 77. To break the tie, they had to replay the first hole in a shootout. Courteney put her drive in the hazard, but hit a great shot onto the green and made a one put to save par and take first place. Also shooting a personal best was Holly Gotlund who placed 5th with an 81. Hannah Thompson took home a 12th place medal with her score of 87, and Lorrielle Martin added a 95 to the championship team score. Sophomore, Holly Petlak shot a 96 for a personal best and Cristina Loverde shot 101.



  

 

 

THE GIRLS GOLF TEAM WINS AGAIN!!!

The girls golf team had a busy and successful week, defeating both Vernon Hills and Deerfield.
The Mustangs won their match on Tuesday against Vernon Hills 182 to 207. Leading scorer for the team was Courteney Fabbri who shot a 43. Adding to the team victory were Holly Gotlund's 45, Lorrielle Martin's 46, and Cristina Loverde's 48. The overall varsity record is now 5 wins and 4 losses.

The Junior Varsity Team also defeated the Cougars 203 - 240 in 8 holes. Holly Petlak had the lowest score of 50, Nicole Forsythe shot 55, Keara Hurley a 56 and Darin Chaichitatorn shot 59.

The Mustangs traveled to Deerfield on Thursday and came away with another win 171 to 187. Our top scores were a 42 from Courteney Fabbri and Hannah Thompson, a 43 from Holly Gotlund and a 44 from Cristina Loverde.

The JV team wins a close one!!! 186 to 189. Shooting a personal best was Keara Hurley with a 49, Holly Petlak adds a 50, Shannon Streeter shot a 51 and Nicole Forsythe shot a 58.



Week III Recap

The Varsity GGolf Team had a tough week of NSC competition. On Monday, they competed against Stevenson and lost a close match, 172-179. Our top scores were a 41 from Courteney Fabbri and a 45 from Holly Gotlund. Our putters were cold on a hot day!

The JV Team kept up their winning streak with a 219-275 victory. Leading the way for the Mustangs were; Megan Wiese with a personal best of 46, Becky Koeller shot a 54, Shannon Streeter had a 56 and Keara Hurley a 63.

On Wednesday, Aug. 29, the Lady Mustangs traveled to Lake Forest for a tri-match with Highland Park (3rd place in State). The team finished a disappointing 3rd with Highland Park edging out Lake Forest 164-166 and a 176 for Mundelein. The top scores for the Mustangs were 41 from Courteney Fabbri, 44 from Cristina Loverde, 45 from Holly Gotlund and 46 from Hannah Thompson.

The week ended on a high point with a victory against visiting Palatine 187-209. Leading the way for the Mustangs was Courteney Fabbri who shot a 41 and Hannah Thompson who shot 45.

The JV Team also won their match; 221-245. Top golfers were Shannon Streeter with a 54, Nicole Forsyth with a personal best of 56, Keara Hurley also shot 56 and Megan Wiese shot 57.


Week II Recap
WOW!!! What a week for the Varsity Girls Golf Team! The girls start the week by defeating Lake Zurich with a 166 which is a new school record, and Courteney Fabbri shot par 35 and now holds the individual school record. Then they finish the week at the 12 team Hersey Invite, placing an impressive 3rd, setting a new 18-hole scoring record of 337. Hannah Thompson tied for 7th place with a personal best score of 81. Cristina Loverde added her personal best score of 87, Holly Gotlund and Couteney Fabbri both tied their best scores, and Becky Koeller improved her personal best score by34 strokes!!!

The Lady Mustangs are heating it up! A new school dual match record was set on Wed. Aug. 22 against Lake Zurich at Village Green Golf Course when the Mustangs shot a 166. The team was lead by Courteney Fabbri who also shot her personal best setting another individual school record with a par 35. Adding to the record team score were Hannah Thompson and Holly Gotlund who both shot 42, and Lorrielle Martin and Cristina Loverde both shot 47.



Results from Wed. Aug. 15 vs. Hoffman Estates (course - Highland Woods)
The JV Team set a new school dual match record with a 195-267 win! Leading the team was Shannon Streeter who shot a personal best of 46, also shooting personal best scores were Holly Petlak with 49 and Keara Hurley with 50. Freshman, Megan Wiese also shot a 50 in her first high school match. The other girls also had good scores, Marli Volpe had a 51 and Josie David shot 54.

The Varsity team defeated Hoffman Estates for their second victory 172-257. Captain, Hannah Thompson shot a personal best score of 39. Cristina Loverde shot a 42, Courteney Fabbri a 45, and Holly Gotlund a 46.

 
Season Opener
The Lady Mustangs opened their season with an impressive victory! They beat Johnsburg on a challenging course, Chapel Hill, and posted their lowest opening score 183 to 235. Leading the Mustangs was Jr. Lorrielle Martin with a score of 44, followed by Hannah Thompson with 45, Holly Gotlund with 46. Cristina Loverde and Courteney Fabbri both shot 48.
