I enthusiastically joined Mundelein High School in 2009 after teaching 8th grade science at Carl Sandburg Middle School for five years. Since joining MHS, I have collaborated with colleagues to revise the Core and Honors Chemistry curricula, making the courses more rigorous in terms of developing student analytical thinking skills. I have also been entrusted with mentoring teachers new to MHS.

My goal is to develop and expand the existing capabilities of every student. Every student, no matter how experienced or competent, has room to grow. I will continue to challenge students in every way possible: cognitively, socially, and emotionally. Balancing these attributes develops the "whole child" in a holistic way. Mastering chemistry is not the focus of the courses that I teach. Mastering the life skills of problem solving, data analysis, building positive peer relationships, and developing a sense of self-reliance are paramount. All of these goals are taught through chemistry. Chemistry is the means to these ends, not the end in itself. If students choose to pursue science as a career, that's a bonus!
