Deadline for Mundelein Idol is September 24
September 21, 2009
The Mundelein High School Choral Department is looking for contestants for the third annual Mundelein Idol competition to be held in the high school auditorium Saturday, October 3 at 6:30 pm. The competition will feature singers competing for cash prizes and the title of Mundelein Idol 2009. The audience votes for their favorite candidates each round until the Mundelein Idol is chosen.
Contestants may be any age and from any community. In fact, according to Choral Director John Neubauer, “people not from Mundelein High School are very much encouraged to compete.”
First prize for the contest winner will be $200 and a trophy. Second place prize is $50 and third place earns $25.
Depending on the number of contestants, there may be a preliminary round of singing set for September 26, to be judged by Neubauer and Cory Thompson, also an MHS choral director. It is also possible to submit a recorded audition if the contestant must travel a great distance to Mundelein.
Last year’s winner was Shaeleigh Voitl of Bartlett; the first Mundelein Idol was Gracie Williams of Waukegan.
