November 20, 2012
The Mundelein High School track and cross country teams will host a Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk and Kids 1-Mile beginning at 8:30 am on the grounds of the high school. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of waterproof warm-ups for the teams. The Kids 1-Mile will begin at 9:30 am.
Packet pick-up will be available Wednesday, November 21, from 3:30 to 7:30 pm at Golden Legs Running, 508 N. Seymour, Mundelein. Cost is $25 if pre-registered by midnight, November 19, and $30 on race day at the track. Registration may be completed by clicking on “RevTrak” on the school’s website home page at www.d120.org, or in person at MHS. Cost for the 1-Mile kids 10 and under is $15. Parents or older siblings may participate with kids free of charge but they will not receive a t-shirt.
T-shirts will be provided to all pre-registered participants registering on or before November 11 and to race day registrants as long as the supply lasts. A light breakfast will also be provided for all participants.
The 5K course is 3.1 miles covering the turf surface on the new track as well as grass, hills and pavement on the MHS campus. The 1-Mile course is on the new Mondo surface track.
Awards will be given to top male and female finishers in 5K age brackets and top male and female kids 10 and under in the 1-Mile. Additional awards will be raffled at the conclusion of both events.
“Join us for a fun morning out with the community,” said Steph Gates, MHS girls track coach.
