New Mundelein Chief of Police, Eric Guenther, was honored at a breakfast meeting held February 27, hosted by Superintendent Jody Ware and Communications Director Ron Girard. Guenther took over from long-time chief, Ray Rose, on February 1.
The breakfast was attended by members of the MHS administration along with Deputy Chief John Monahan, Commander Don Hansen, Village Administrator John Lobaito, Fire Chief Tim Sashko and MHS Police Liaison Officer Brian Kisselburg. The attendees discussed the ways that the school district and first responders work together to keep the school and community safe. They also looked to the future of the strong relationship among the schools, community and police/fire departments. The group plans to meet frequently to keep on top of school safety issues and concerns.
"We're looking at a long term, positive alliance between the school and the police department," Ware said. "And we welcome Chief Guenther as our leader in monitoring school/safety issues."
Guenther was presented with an MHS hoodie sweatshirt to make him always feel at home at MHS.
