What is DOORS?
DOORS is a program which connects Mundelein High School students to opportunities within their chosen career.
Who can participate in DOORS?
Any Mundelein High School student, freshman through senior, can be a part of the DOORS program; however, the student internship component is only open to seniors. Interested juniors should check on course availability with their guidance counselor during the course selection process.
How does DOORS connect students and careers?
DOORS offers multiple ways for students to learn more about potential careers of interest such as internships, career cells, mock interviews and other special events.
The student internship class provides a way for students to experience first-hand what it's like to work in a particular field.
The student internship class is available for seniors only.
Throughout the school year, Mustang DOORS hosts Career Cells (career exploration panels). Career Cells are made up of professionals who work in careers that are centered around a particular content area, i.e. anatomy and physiology. The panelists, representing a range of jobs, talk to students about their career paths, and what kinds of things they may do in a given day.
Career Cells are open to freshman through senior students.
Several times a year Mustang DOORS hosts mock interviews connecting students and professionals from the Mundelein business community. Mock interviews give students the opportunity to practice their interviewing skills with these professionals and receive valuable feedback.
Special Career Events
Throughout the year, DOORS organizes industry-specific events bringing together representatives from different companies as well as other types of student-focused special events.
Recently, DOORS hosted "Automation Night" showcasing manufacturing careers available in Illinois. The event provided students the opportunity to meet representatives from local manufacturing companies including: Baxter, Chicago Tag & Label, MacLean-Fogg Company, Medline Industries, Inc., and more.
