Band Boosters

Join us at our Monthly Meetings

Meetings are normally held the first Thursday of the month in the MHS District Meeting room.  All are welcome to attend and earn about volunteer opportunities, fundraisers and future band events.  The last meeting of 2017 is Dec 7th.

 

Want do the Band Boosters do?                                         

The goals of the MHS Band Boosters as defined in the group's bylaws are:
1.    To create a closer working relationship between students, parents, school, community, and the band directors.
2.    To raise funds in order to provide financial support and enrichment for the band program.
3.    Support the music and performance program as defined by the band directors.


Parents in the Band Boosters volunteer for band program events and provide fundraising opportunities for both students and the program as a whole. The Boosters administer several fundraisers throughout the year providing all band students increased opportunities to study privately, attend summer music camps, upgrade their instruments, and travel on band trips. Fundraising events include traditional sales, music events like the Mundelein Invitational, a monthly fundraising program, Shop with Script and much more!

All band parents are invited to become active participants in the MHS Band Boosters. It is a fantastic way to help encourage your student's participation in an extremely beneficial activity that is artistic, team-based, academic, and fun!  Whatever skill set you possess, the Band Boosters can put your talents to use.  Many hands make light work; if you only have an hour to give it will a difference.  Please come out and get involved!                            

Want to make a difference?

In the fall of each school year, please consider helping out with our Marching Mustangs.  We need a whole team of parents to help with uniforms, water, front ensemble instuments and chaperone at marching competitions.

In the spring, there is the Mundelein Invitational and Evening of Jazz.  Both of these events require many volunteers to make them a success each year.

Fundraising and Student Escrows

The MHS Band Boosters offer several fundraising opportunities each year to help enrich each student's experience in the band program. Money raised through the MHS Band Boosters is held in escrow for each student, allowing him/her to decide how these funds enrich their time in band. Students can use their escrow money to pay for band trips, private instruction, equipment and summer music camps.

In addition to student escrow accounts, a percentage of all money raised helps to pay for great experiences like commissioned music written specifically for the MHS Band, clinics with the areas top music educators and enriched performance and travel experiences. Shop with Script (formerly Manna) Fundraiser

When: Monthly throughout school year

Profit Margin: Variable (5%-25%)

Description: This is a gift card program that donates a percentage of each gift card sold to MHS Bands and your student's escrow account. Gift cards can be purchased to hundreds of local retailers, grocers, gas stations and much more. It's simple, buy a $50 gift card to Shell Gasoline and your student receives a percentage of that money in their escrow account, regardless of how much of the card is actually spent! Buy your groceries with a $100 gift card rather than a credit card and your student earns money back.

Citrus Fundraiser

When: Order in November. Delivery in early December.

Profit Margin: Variable

Description: Students and Parents sell boxes of Florida Citrus for pickup during the 2nd week of December. Available items include: Juice and Navel Oranges, Apples, Pears, Grapefruit and several pre-packaged assortments. Students are needed to help distribute orders upon delivery.

Ordering: Students will each receive an order form in early November. Return the order form prior to the Thanksgiving Holiday to ensure delivery before Winter Break.

Fannie May Fundraiser

When: Late February-early March

Profit Margin: 25%

Description: Students and parents sell boxes of Fannie May chocolate such as Pixies, Meltaways, and Trinidads. Boxes are delivered to the school sorted by each student's order. Students and parents distribute these boxes to the customers upon receipt.

Ordering: Students will each receive an order form during the first week of the fundraiser. This order form must be turned in no more than two weeks after the event begins.
