Informational Letter

On April 12 & 13, the state- sponsored SAT suite of exams will be administered to students in grades 9, 10, & 11 as follows.  There are a handful of grade 12 students who must test as well to meet the State Graduation Requirements.  These families have been communicated with directly. We apologize for the length of this email however we are trying to cover all possible scenarios for each of our students.

*State Testing is based on a student’s current classified grade level which is based upon credits earned*
 

  • General Information for Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13, 2023

    • There are no classes on either of these days, if you are not testing, you are off

    • Grade 12 students do not attend unless they need to complete testing

    • Students do not attend Tech Campus on either of these days

    • On both days, regular transportation will be provided in the morning

    • The cafeteria will be open for breakfast and lunch on both days

    • Testing begins at 8:40am on both days

    • Testing room locations are posted by the Guidance Office and Cafeteria

    • Students will have varying end times on each day

    • Students may leave for the day once their testing is completed

    • We will have two full bus runs home on each day

      • 1st buses leaves at 12:30pm

      • 2nd buses leaves at 1:50pm (bus times subject to change)

 

  • Wednesday, April 12, 2023

    • All grade 11 students will be taking the SAT beginning at 8:40am

      • Most students will be finished around 1:45 pm

      • Accommodated test takers have varying end times and can go as late as 2:30pm

    • All grade 10 students will be taking the PSAT10 beginning at 8:40am

      • Most students will be finished around 12:15 pm

      • Accommodated students have varying end times and can go as late as 1:55pm

    • Grade 9 students who receive 2-day accommodations will be taking the PSAT 8/9 at 8:40am

      • These accommodated students have varying end times (not later than 12:30pm)

    • Grade 12 and the majority of students in grade 9 do not have school on this day

 

  • Thursday, April 13, 2023

    • All grade 11 students who completed their SAT will take the Illinois Science Assessment beginning at 8:40am

      • Students must bring their charged chromebook to complete the assessment

      • This is an untimed test so students can be released as early as 10:30am

    • Grade 11 students who receive 2-day accommodations will be completing their SAT beginning at 8:40am

      • Accommodated students have varying end times and can go as late as 1:30pm

    • Grade 10 students who receive 2-day accommodations will be completing their PSAT10 beginning at 8:40am

      • Accommodated students have varying end times and can go as late as 11:45am

    • All Grade 9 students will be completing the PSAT 8/9 beginning at 8:40am

      • Most students will be finished around 11:45 am

      • Accommodated students have varying end times (not later than 1:10pm)

    • Grade 12 students and a majority of students in grade 10 do not have school on this day

 

Student room assignments for these exams will be posted in the Guidance Office windows beginning on Wednesday, April 5.
 

Information from these exams will be used to measure students’ proficiency towards various college readiness standards and in calculating student achievement growth throughout their high school career.  Mundelein High School will be administering the SAT Suite of Assessments across three grade levels due to the Illinois State Board of Education selecting SAT as the state’s high school accountability exam.

 

All students testing on April 12 and 13 should bring #2 pencils (non-mechanical), their student ID, and a calculator.  Please be aware that College Board guidelines prohibit electronic devices (cell phones, Chromebooks, smart watches, etc…) from testing rooms.  If you are interested in learning more about the calculator guidelines for the PSAT and or the SAT, please visit this link.  For any other information regarding the SAT Suite, please visit this link.
