Honors English 2

In addition to the choice reading book, read Anthem by Ayn Rand. Be prepared to discuss both books with your peers in August.

Honors English 3

In addition to the choice reading book, choose one of the following books to read as well:

• They Called Us Enemy by George Takei
• Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender
• The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

Consider the following question as you are reading: In what ways does this book expand or challenge your understanding of American identity?

In addition to the choice reading book, choose a nonfiction title that presents an alternative/new way to think about the world.  While reading, consider the following guiding question: What is the importance of alternative thinking? Below are a few titles we recommend:

• When to Rob a Bank by Steven Levitt, Stephen J. Dubner
• What if? by Randall Munroe
• Stiff by Mary Roach
