MHS School Community,
 
It is with great disappointment that I inform you of an incident of a racial slur spoken by a student during our freshman orientation session Friday morning.
 
While the vast majority of our students were respectful, one student unmuted and spoke a racial slur toward African Americans and other profanity.  It was appalling, unacceptable and goes against every core value at Mundelein High School.  MHS is on a journey to deconstruct racial injustice so we can better educate our students for the future.
 
Our deans of students are investigating and will take appropriate action.  Incidents of this nature are unsettling and we encourage students to speak with their teachers, counselors and/or other trusted adults.
 
Again, what transpired this morning was appalling, unacceptable and goes against every core value at Mundelein High School.

Es con gran decepción que les informo de un incidente durante nuestra sesión de orientación de primer año este viernes por la mañana un insulto racial dicho por un estudiante.

La gran mayoría de nuestros estudiantes fueron respetuosos, un estudiante habló con un insulto racial hacia los afroamericanos y otras blasfemias. Fue pésimo, inaceptable y va en contra de todos los valores fundamentales de Mundelein High School. MHS está en un camino para de construir la injusticia racial para que podamos educar mejor a nuestros estudiantes para el futuro.

Nuestros deans de estudiantes están investigando y tomarán las medidas necesarias. Los incidentes de esta naturaleza son inquietantes y alentamos a los estudiantes a hablar con sus maestros, consejeros y / u otros adultos de confianza.

Una vez más, lo que ocurrió esta mañana fue pésimo, inaceptable y va en contra de todos los valores fundamentales de Mundelein High School.
