For the third straight year, MHS earned recognition on the College Board’s AP Honor Roll.

The AP Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results from students while broadening participation.

College Board’s AP Program enables students to pursue college-level studies - with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both - while still in high school. Taking AP courses demonstrates to college admissions officers that students have sought the most challenging curriculum available, and research indicates that students who score a three or higher on an AP exam typically experience greater academic success in college and are more likely to earn a college degree.

The College Board determines AP School Honor Roll distinctions using three metrics: College Culture, College Credit, and College Optimization. Schools must meet criteria in all three to earn a designation. For the Class of 2025, MHS earned multiple distinctions on the AP School Honor Roll.

  • Silver Designation for College Culture (percentage of the Class of 2025 that took at least one AP course and exam during high school.
  • Gold Designation for College Credit (percentage of the Class of 2025 that scored a three or higher on at least one AP exam.
  • The highest designation Platinum for College Optimization (percentage of the Class of 2025 that completed five or more AP exams, including at least one in 9th or 10th grade.

“This recognition reflects both the strength of our academic programs and our commitment to expanding access to rigorous coursework,” said Stacey Gorman, District 120 Director of Teaching and Learning. “Our students are choosing challenging pathways, and our teachers are providing the instruction and support that allow them to succeed at high levels.”
