Mundelein High School is once again very well represented at the Illinois Music Education Association District 7 Honors Ensembles this fall. A total of 12 MHS musicians representing band, orchestra, choir and jazz band, were named to the ILMEA Honors Ensembles in October. They are considered in the top 5 percent of performers in the state.
The individual honors are the result of students preparing upwards of five musical excerpts that are performed for judges across Illinois. Achieving a place in district ensembles is a rare honor - on par with an athletic team advancing to state sectionals.
The honors were given to the following students:
Senior Band: Jorge Meza, trombone; and Natalie Moon, clarinet.
Senior Orchestra: Camryn Plohr, trombone; and Marek Sikora, bassoon.
Senior Chorus: Julie Brenner, soprano I.
Senior Jazz Combo: Jacob Dubinskiy, trombone.
Senior Jazz Band I: Justin Carvalho, alto saxophone; Daniel Fishel, baritone saxophone; Andy Gallup, bass trombone; and Jorge Meza, trombone.
Senior Jazz Band II: Matthew Adamczyk, trumpet.
Senior Jazz Band III: Camryn Plohr, trombone.
Senior Jazz Band IV: Andrew Brenner, piano.
Senior Vocal Jazz II: Cassidy Langford, alto.
Congratulations also to MHS Band Directors Andy Sturgeon and Jerry Shelato and to Choir Director Cory Thompson for their work in preparing these students.
