Mundelein High School Principal, Dr. Alexandria Taylor, announced Friday that she will leave MHS at the end of the academic school year in order to continue raising her young and growing family.
Taylor, the first Latina principal at Mundelein High School, recently began her fourth year at the helm of MHS. Her resignation will be submitted to the District 120 School Board on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
In a letter to staff, Taylor expressed that she has led with heart, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to the staff and students. She told MHS staff members on Friday morning that her commitment to the school will remain unchanged throughout the remainder of the school year.
“This role hasn't just been a job—it's been a calling, and your incredible trust, partnership, and friendship have made all the difference,” Taylor wrote.
Dr. Corey Tafoya, Superintendent of Districts 75 and 120, said he intends to make Taylor’s final year at Mundelein High School a fantastic one.
“We appreciate Dr. Taylor’s commitment to our staff, students and community, but understand her desire to slow down and cherish family time,” said Superintendent Corey Tafoya. “It is a bittersweet moment.”
The District 120 administration will build the succession plan over the next few months.
