Foundation named for former student donates to MHS music programs

A foundation named for a former MHS band student has donated $5,000 to the school music program. Christina Hopkins presented the check on Feb. 27 to MHS Band Directors Andy Sturgeon and Jerry Shelato on behalf of the Brandon Michael Lee Foundation. Her late son Brandon graduated from MHS in 2013 and was a band student during his time at Mundelein High School.

Special Ed Alliance honors Mundelein schools administrator

Jamie DiCarlo, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for Mundelein School Districts 75 and 120, received a regional leadership award on February 26 for her work in special education. The Special Education Leadership Award was presented by the Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education (IAASE) during the group’s Winter Conference in Champaign.

MHS Senior receives DAR Good Citizen Award

MHS senior Ella Novotney was one of four area high school students to receive a 2025 Good Citizen student award from the Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The awards were presented Feb. 15 during the chapter meeting at the Libertyville Civic Center. The DAR Good Citizens program was created in 1934 and is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.

To ensure this, on Monday, February 23, Fremont School District 79 and Mundelein High School District 120 jointly filed a lawsuit in the Lake County Circuit Court against the Village of Mundelein.

MHS names six new division chairs for 2026-27 school year

MHS is proud to announce six new division chairs who will help guide our school in a new organizational structure in the next school year. They will begin their new duties in the 2026-27 school year as Mundelein High School transitions from Department Chairs to a Division Chair system.

College Board recognizes MHS on the AP Honor Roll for third straight year

For the third straight year, MHS earned recognition on the College Board’s AP Honor Roll. The AP Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results from students while broadening participation. College Board’s AP Program enables students to pursue college-level studies - with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both - while still in high school.
