Board of Education elects officers; appoints Rastrelli to open seat

NEW BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTS OFFICERS The newly-elected Mundelein High School District 120 Board of Education elected officers to begin the new Board. Laura Vogt was elected president; Thomas Ouimet, vice president; and Lisa Yaffe, secretary. In addition, Peter Rastrelli was appointed to the Board following the resignation of Joanne Anderson who moved out of the district. Rastrelli will serve a two-year term.

MHS graduate, Oscar Rodrigo Araiza Bravo, who recently was awarded a full scholarship to Harvard University to study physics in a doctoral program. spoke with MHS students Monday, May 20. Araiza Bravo graduated from the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign with degrees in mathematics and engineering physics. MHS staff members honored for career milestones

A staff recognition ceremony for Mundelein High School staff members was held Wednesday, May 15 at the Hawthorn Woods Country Club hosted by Superintendent Kevin Myers and Principal Anthony Kroll. Ten staff members were honored for being granted tenure: Stevee Bellas, Kelli Goodwin, Leah Kolcz, Lauren Morley, Kristina Rizzo, Georgina Mendez, Jesse Piland, Rebecca Plaza, Carsyn Rodriguez and Peter Schrenk. The Mustang staff earns 23 IJEA awards

Mundelein High School’s staff of the student-produced school newspaper, The Mustang, recently earned 23 awards in the 2018-2019 Illinois Journalism Education Association (IJEA) Newspaper and Digital Media contest. “I think it just goes to show how diligently we worked as a staff this year and it is nice to be rewarded for all of it at the end of the year,” said Senior Tyler Yakimisky, who served as co-editor-in-chief this year along with Senior Madison Parola. Mundelein area organizations/businesses grant nearly $80K in scholarships to MHS seniors

During their Senior Honors Night at Mundelein High School on May 7, graduating seniors took in nearly $80K in scholarship money from local Mundelein area businesses and organizations. Overall, the senior class was offered close to $3 million in scholarships from colleges, universities and organizations.
