    MHS Theatre presents murder mystery

    If you like to laugh, then Mundelein Theatre has the show for you. “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” is a fun, silly, comical whodunit that will keep you guessing as to the identity of the killer at the center of its murder mystery plot. The show runs on Thursday-Saturday, February 3, 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. There is a 3:45 p.m. matinee on Friday, February 4. Additionally, there will be a performance on Saturday, February 5 at 2 p.m. featuring the understudy cast.

    Trey Baker walked down the halls of his old high school like the conquering hero. Teachers and students called out his name, waved, or stopped for a quick hug. The Class of ‘21 Mundelein High School graduate returned Dec. 15 not just to visit old friends and teachers, but to advance a program very near and dear to his heart: mentoring young men of color and helping them find pathways to opportunity.     MHS students recognized as State Scholars

    Mundelein High School Principal Anthony Kroll has announced that 52 students from the MHS graduating class of 2022 have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars. “We’re extremely proud of these students for being recognized as Illinois State Scholars and wish them well in their preparations for the next phase of their lives,” Kroll said. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) presents this important recognition of academic achievement to exceptional Illinois students annually.

    December will be more than just a busy month for the Mundelein High School Jazz Ensemble. It will be a month to remember. The group will have three performances, two of them away from school, all between Dec. 12 and 16. It is the December 16 performance at the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference that will stand out for students. Held at McCormick Place in Chicago, the Clinic is the world’s largest instrumental music education conference.

    The Mundelein Theatre Group Interpretation (GI) team recently competed in the 2021 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Drama and Group Interpretation Tournament. The contest was held virtually, with each team recording and submitting their entries. The Mundelein GI this year, The Further Adventures of Nick Danger-Third Eye, placed second in their sectional competition and advanced to the state tournament.
