    Opening Doors to Advanced Learning at Mundelein High School

    More Mundelein High School students are challenging themselves with advanced coursework than ever before. And as participation has grown, student success has grown with it. In 2021, 420 MHS students took 744 Advanced Placement exams. By 2026, 604 students took 1,316 exams. At the same time, the percentage of AP students earning a score of 3 or higher, the benchmark commonly associated with earning college credit, rose from 66 percent in 2021 to nearly 90 percent in 2026.

    MHS student writes about mom, wins Father's Day contest

    When MHS sophomore Lizetl Molina penned a school essay on fatherhood this spring, she wrote about her mom and all that she does to fill both parental roles. Her essay, which highlighted a strong and independent woman who has been both mother and father to Molina, was named one of the top entries in the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative’s Essay Contest. Molina and her mother will be honored in Chicago on Saturday, June 20, one day before Father’s Day.

    It’s been four years since Adriana Nuzzo graduated from Mundelein High School. But it hasn’t been so long that she’s forgotten the impact of her former MHS Social Studies Teacher Susan Theotokatos. Nuzzo, about to embark on a teaching career of her own, wrote the nomination letter that landed Theotokatos a 2026 Wolfe Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Kansas.
