A pair of Mundelein High School seniors achieved perfect scores on the ACT test they took near the end of their junior years.

Liam O’Neill and Paige Prochnow practiced and studied extensively prior to taking the test last April. They both scored a perfect composite score of 36.

“It’s an amazing achievement for both of these students,” said MHS Principal Alex Taylor. “Both Paige and Liam showed that they are willing to put in the effort to do their very best. We’re all so glad it paid off for them.”

Prochnow used a variety of tools, from the ACT grammar rules website for English to YouTube videos for math and practice questions for reading and science. She also credited her honors and AP classes at MHS for helping her to prepare for the questions and to learn the material.

O’Neill began studying during his sophomore year using Kahn Academy for the PSAT and SAT. When the testing cycle switched to the ACT, he took a multitude of practice tests on the ACT website until he felt confident.

Both students are involved in a variety of activities at MHS. Prochnow participates in Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Track and Field, the Peer Tutors Club, National Honor Society, SALT and more. Prochnow has also been listed as a semifinalist in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.

O’Neill has participated in baseball and cross country as an underclassman and now is focused on playing piano in the Jazz Orchestra, the show choir Noise and the pit orchestra for the Mundelein High School musical. He is also heavily involved in the AP Peer Tutor Club and said he has tutored more than 100 high school students during his time at MHS.

The two were honored at the Mundelein School District 120 Board of Education meeting on October 7.
