Mundelein High School alumni presented on the MHS College Ambassador Program during a major state conference in April.
Chris Martin (Class of 2023), Mila Patel (Class of 2024), and Ailani Zires (Class of 2025) made their joint presentation along with Andrea Rusk at the Illinois Association for College Admissions Counseling (IACAC) conference which ran from April 22-24. The professional development conference is considered one of the best in the country and the information that is shared impacts decisions at many levels of the college planning process.
MHS College Counselor Andrea Rusk presented in past years, but for the first time ever, MHS had student alumni present to these professionals about the MHS College Ambassador program and how students can be proactive and capable near-peer leaders and advocates for themselves and future generations.
“I am so proud of these students, not only for what they accomplished during their time at MHS, but for their desire to continue to give back both to our own community and to others across the state,” Rusk said.
The students not only provided wonderful information about how others can create similar programs in their own schools, but they were truly exceptional representatives of MHS and what it is to be a Mustang. Rusk said the participants in the session were “blown away” by the alumni’s professionalism, positive energy, and ability to convey the possibilities that exist for others.
Attending the conference were representatives of colleges and universities and high schools from both Illinois and across the nation.
